Efflorescence generally appears as a white deposit (although it may also be brown, green or yellow in colour) on the surface of clay and concrete masonry and concrete walls. It occurs when soluble salts in the concrete or mortar dissolve in moisture in the blockwork, brickwork or concrete and are then carried to the surface as the moisture migrates through. Classic Efflorescence Wash™ is a fluid applied cleaner that removes efflorescence from concrete, brick, block, and other masonry surfaces. Its unique formulation makes it suitable for both DIY projects and professional applications. Use it to effectively prepare surfaces for painting or other treatments while ensuring long-lasting protection. Removes unsightly white, powdery salt deposits (efflorescence) from masonry surfaces.
Prepares concrete, brick, plaster, and blockwork for paint or coatings.
Improves adhesion and durability of subsequent paint systems.
Suitable for renovation, new construction, and maintenance projects.
To clean newly constructed brick, plaster, or blockwork prior to plastering or painting.
To ensure surfaces are free of salts and contaminants that may impair coating adhesion.
Add Classiflex Mortar Addmix™ to plaster to prevent Efflorescence and/or damp seeping through.
To restore aged or weathered masonry where efflorescence has appeared..
To clean areas prior to repainting or recoating for improved longevity.
Base: Contains phosphoric acid and other proprietary chemicals.
Appearance: Clear liquid.
pH: Acidic.
Dilution: As directed depending on severity of efflorescence.
Packaging: Available in 1Litres, 5 Litres and 20 Litre containers.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.
Surfaces must be clean, dry before treatment.
Apply using bristle nylon brush or broom.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water after treatment.
Allow surfaces to dry completely before painting.
Protect adjacent painted or delicate surfaces.
Use Undiluted in severe cases but Dilute Classic Efflorescence Wash™ with maximum 4 parts water if required.
Apply evenly to affected area.
Allow to react for several minutes (do not allow to dry).
Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Repeat if necessary for stubborn deposits.
Allow surface to dry before plastering or painting.
Wear protective gloves, goggles, and a mask when handling chemicals.
Do not mix with other chemicals.
Ensure good ventilation during use.
Handle and open container with care. Clear contaminated areas thoroughly.
Wash hands before breaks and after work. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.
Keep container tightly closed. Store in a dry place. Hygroscopic.
Do not take in orally.
Ambient temperature must be between 15°C and 35°C with humidity between 10% and 50%.
Do not allow Classic Efflorescence Wash™ to dry on painted surfaces.
Do not paint in excessive heat. Best times: early morning or late afternoon.
Slower drying extends coating lifespan.
Avoid use in adverse weather to prevent poor performance.
CAUTION! Contains Phosphoric Acid and other Proprietary Ingredients. Severe eye and skin irritant.
Painting is a relatively user-friendly activity if the proper precautions are taken to ensure safety.
If accidental contact with skin, wash immediately with soap and water or a good quality skin cleaner.
If accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
Do not take in orally - harmful if swallowed. Seek medical attention and do not induce vomiting.
Do not let a freshly painted room be occupied, particularly not by older people, children, or pets.
Ventilate the area to be painted, opening all doors, windows and using fans during application and drying.
Protect floors with cloth drop cloths, not plastic, which is far more slippery.
Make sure your ladder is in good shape. Set the legs on an even surface and lock the cross braces. Do not stand on the top of the ladder nor on the utility shelf. If you are having difficulty reaching a spot, get down from the ladder and move it rather than leaning out.
If rags have alkyd paint or thinner on them, leave them to dry outside to avoid any chance of spontaneous combustion.
Choose an area inaccessible to children and pets, and when they are thoroughly dry, take them to a toxic-waste dump site.
