GENERAL DESCRIPTION

CLASSIC DAMP SLURRY™ is a Two-Part Polymer modified Mortar-Based coating comprising special components and admixtures. It is applied to the masonry surface to create a waterproof barrier.

USES

CLASSIC DAMP SLURRY™ penetrates the porous passageways in the mortar/bricks and then sets to create a watertight bond, blocking water from traveling through the wall. Excellent water resistance, enhanced adhesion and good flexibility. Stops Damp on Interior/Exterior Walls, Shower Floors and Walls, Retaining Walls, Concrete Decks / Reservoirs, Concrete / Mortar Dams, Concrete Walkways, Garden Walls, etc. Ideal for water tanking, a method of preventing water ingress or seeping by creating a completely impermeable waterproof barrier on an internal wall. Tanking is in reference to below ground structures like basements or as a precautionary measure on damp walls above ground.

TECHNICAL DATA

  • TYPE - Special Mortar Mix and Liquid - Styrene - Acrylic Copolymer;

  • VISCOSITY 50 - 800 CPs (Brookfield LVT #3 @ 30rpm);

  • PH - 7 - 9;

  • SOLIDS - 52 - 54%;

  • PACKING SIZE - 5 Kilograms and 20 Kilograms Kit in Bucket.

APPLICATION

  1. Correct surface preparation is essential. All areas being treated must be thoroughly cleaned removing all paint, loose material, dust, dirt, grime, and any other barrier to adhesion;

  2. Dampen all surfaces by using clean water just prior to application of the Classic Damp Slurry™;

  3. Using the bucket provided first pour in the white milky liquid. While stirring, slowly add powder. Continue stirring until a lump free, sloppy, slurry mixture is achieved;

  4. The Milky Liquid container can be filled with 50% water and added to mixture if consistency of mixture is too thick;

  5. If a thicker consistency is required to give the mix better filling properties, some of the liquid component can be withheld;

  6. Ensure to mix the solution during application to avoid settling. Pot Life once mixed is approximately 2 hours depending on the ambient temperature;

  7. Apply two generous coats of the slurry mixture to the entire surface with a builder’s brush and plaster float, sponge down with sponge of for even better surfaces with sponge float and then and float with steel float;

  8. Areas exposed to movement, typically junctions between floors and walls and larger surface areas, CLASSIC DAMP SLURRY™ must be used in conjunction with A2 Bidim;

  9. Allow 8 hours drying time between coats. Allow the slurry 48hours drying time before over coating or tiling.

Coverage = ±2kg per square metre per coat, two coats required. A 5kg kit’s effective coverage is 2.5 square metres for two coats. Coverage/spreading depend on condition and porosity of the surface and the manner in which CLASSIC DAMP SLURRY™ is applied.

STORAGE

Store under cover, away from damp, rain, frost and direct sunlight.

IMPORTANT

  • The ambient temperature must be between 5ºC and 35ºC and humidity between 10% and 85%;

  • Do not apply too early as the surface may still be damp - apply only when the surface is dry;

  • Do not apply in too hot weather, rather early morning and after lunch, the slower the product dries, the longer it lasts;

  • Excessive application thickness and/or rapid drying could lead to cracking;

  • Avoid applying under adverse weather conditions as this could result in poor product performance;

  • Excessively friable surfaces should be cleaned down prior to application;

  • Not recommended for fibre glass water features or ponds;

  • Not recommended for over coating bitumen systems.

SAFETY

Painting is a relatively user-friendly activity if the proper precautions are taken to ensure safety;

  • It is advisable to wear gloves as CrackFix™ could be difficult to remove from the skin;

  • Always keep out of reach of children and animals;

  • Do not take in orally - harmful if swallowed. Seek medical attention and do not induce vomiting;

  • If accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice;

  • Ventilate the area to be painted, opening all doors and windows and using fans during application and drying;

  • Protect floors with cloth Drop Cloths, not plastic, which is far more slippery;

  • Make sure your ladder is in good shape. Set the legs on an even surface and lock the cross braces. Do not stand on the top of the ladder or on the utility shelf. If you are having difficulty reaching a spot, get down from the ladder and move it rather than leaning out;

  • Clean up carefully and thoroughly when you are done for the day.
