GENERAL DESCRIPTION

CLASSIFLEX™ MORTAR ADD MIX is a Styrene-Acrylic copolymer emulsion with exceptionally good flexibility, developed for use with Portland cement.

USES

For use with cement mortars and concrete mixes to give excellent water resistance, enhanced adhesion and good flexibility, enhances strength, resilience and load bearing properties. Also improves workability and flow of cement bound mixes.

Prevents and /or Stops Damp on Interior/Exterior Walls, Shower Floors and Walls, Retaining Walls, Concrete Decks / Reservoirs, Concrete / Mortar Dams, Concrete Walkways, Garden Walls, etc. Ideal for water tanking, a method of preventing water ingress or seeping by creating a completely impermeable waterproof barrier on an internal wall. Tanking is in reference to below ground structures like basements or as a precautionary measure on damp walls above ground.

Level of Usage: 20% based on weight of cement; 20 – 30% may be required for improved adhesion on thin screeds. CLASSIFLEX™ can be used with Portland, High Alumina and fast setting cements. To counteract darkening of modified cement, white cement may be added.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS

STANDARD APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  • All surfaces should be structurally sound, clean and free of all dirt, oil, grease, paint, concrete sealers or curing compounds. Rough or uneven concrete surfaces should be made smooth with CLASSIC DAMP SLURRY™ to provide a wood float (or better) finish. Dry, dusty concrete slabs or masonry should be dampened and excess water swept off. Installation may be made on a damp surface;

  • Add to mortar mix, use less water to maintain consistency;

  • Bagging and Render could be added with Block Brush;

  • All applications like Plaster, Building Mortar, Decking/Screed, Tile Grout to be applied as usual;

  • Concrete to be poured as usual.

STORAGE

Store under cover, away from damp, rain, frost and direct sunlight.

IMPORTANT

  • The usage and storage ambient temperature must be between 5ºC and 35ºC and humidity between 10% and 85%;

  • Avoid applying under adverse weather conditions as this could result in poor product performance;

  • Tools and implements used for mixing and applying CLASSIFLEX™ modified cement mixes must be cleaned after use;

  • All technical data stated in this Product Data Sheet are based on laboratory tests. Actual measured data may vary due to circumstances beyond our control.

SAFETY

  • Always keep out of reach of children and animals;

  • Do not take in orally - harmful if swallowed. Seek medical attention and do not induce vomiting;

  • If accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice;

  • Ventilate the area to be painted, opening all doors and windows and using fans during application and drying;

  • Protect floors with cloth Drop Cloths, not plastic, which is far more slippery;

  • Make sure your ladder is in good shape. Set the legs on an even surface and lock the cross braces. Do not stand on the top of the ladder or on the utility shelf. If you are having difficulty reaching a spot, get down from the ladder and move it rather than leaning out;

  • Clean up carefully and thoroughly when you are done for the day.
